Advanced Bible Study

As part of Legacy Church's commitment to help people trust Jesus as the church, we have partnered with B. H. Carroll Theological Institute to be a Teaching Church in their nexus of ministry. Dr. Wilkes joins other credentialed professors to provide Master's level training for vocational ministers and those who want to learn more about the Bible and Christian faith. The next class offered at Legacy Church will be The General Epistles and Revelation (SWBLI 5213)

This course is an exegetical study ofThe General Letters (1 and 2 Peter and Hebrews, for example) and The Revelation. It is designed to enable the student to understand and interpret the biblical message. Primary attention will be given to the form and content of the text itself: its background and history, distinctive literary traits, the flow of the argument, and the application of its truths in the contemporary setting and personal, spiritual growth.

This course will be offered Tuesdays, 6:30-9:10pm at Legacy Church and will run from March 13 to May 8.

Gene Wilkes, Ph.D., is a Resident Fellow with B. H. Carroll Theological Institute. He holds the Ph.D. in New Testament Studies and M.Div. degrees from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, and a B.A. in Greek and Religion from Baylor University. Dr. Wilkes also teaches Biblical Servant Leadership at the Masters and Ph.D. levels for the Gary Cook School of Leadership at Dallas Baptist University as an adjunct professor.

The cost of the course is $40.00 for a reader plus the textbooks for the course, which you will find on the course webpage when you have applied. You can also register to complete a certificate of training for the course as part of our personal or church's training program.
