Every preschool program needs a Mrs.Rita. An individual whose kind reassuring voice invites your child to come and play and whose loving posture reflects Jesus in all she does.Whether it’s play-dough creations, singing songs or changing a diaper, Rita Parks does it lovingly and with a Colossians 3:23 attitude.
KidStreet is extremely blessed to have Rita as a part of our volunteer staff. We took a few moments to get to know her better. Check out why this amazing lady views her role on the preschool hallway as a most wonderful calling. We know you’ll love her more after you read her answers.
KidStreet: In what area of KidStreet do you currently serve? Have you served in other areas?
Rita: I have been serving in the preschool area for 6-7 years. I currently serve in the 2's; I have served in the 3's, 4's and 5's.
KidStreet: What is your day job?
Rita: I am blessed to be retired from the corporate world. Therefore, I can now enjoy being a full-time grandmother and be "on-call" for my children. :-)
KidStreet: You have a very special story of why did you said ‘yes’ to volunteering in children’s ministry. Will you share that with us?
Rita: I see the importance for parents to have the opportunity for a couple uninterrupted hours to worship and absorb God's Word. I believe serving helps make that happen. AND, I enjoy children.
KidStreet: What is the most fun or rewarding part of your role?
Rita: The reward lies in watching the little ones mature greatly over the year, learning Bible stories, memorizing Scripture, developing friendships, etc. Then, seeing them as "big" kids in the Block is exciting, as this is our next generation who will share their story of God's love and the difference it made in their lives. The fun is watching the little ones interface with each other and us (the volunteers); they love to help.
KidStreet: What would you tell someone on the fence about volunteering?
Rita: What are you waiting for? You get to see God's little miracles in action!!!!
KidStreet: What is your favorite hobby?
Rita: I like to crochet.
KidStreet is blessed to have this kingdom building lady on our team. Next time you see Rita, thank her for the tremendous impact she is making in the lives of our children.
Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these." (Matthew 19:14)
