Mission Trips
POSTPONED
------------------------------------------
Because
of some political issues in the area, the missionaries
in Albania felt it was better to postpone the 2005
trip to a later date. Perhaps this will allow
you to consider going at a later date. Please keep
praying for the people of Albania and those
in Shkoder and B.C.

About
our Albanian Spiritual Investment:
- Theresa
Weaver has been our missionary to Albania
for 7+ years, faithfully creating relationships
and leading souls to Christ.
- Over
the years we’ve invested in life changing
projects to encourage new converts and open
doors to spiritual conversation. (Most recently,
we completed a Christmas Bag project which
sent gifts and supplies to the orphans in
Skoder, and some children in the villages.)
- A
few years ago, Theresa moved her main emphasis
from orphans in the city of Skoder , to the
incredibly needy villages and their unreached
people in the Albanian Alps.
- Through
her work and other coordinating Christian
missionaries, a church has been formed in
the beautiful area of Bajram Curri, and one
in the smaller town close by called Fierz.
- God
is moving in a great way there, and has VERY
talented key people looking for ways to reach
their own communities for Christ.
- This
is the area we visited in 2004 and excitedly
made initial plans to return with a group
in the summer of 2005 to help with a clean-up
campaign which will gain GREAT respect from
the mostly Muslim residence there, or help
in a building effort for the child care facility
on newly purchased land, where they will be
able to serve the community, as well as house
the local pastor, Pastor Astrit, and serve
the church as a meeting place. (They are in
the process of fund-raising to pay for the
building, but construction has not been started
yet.)
Prayer
Needs for the Church in Bajram
Curri:
- Pray
for an understanding of the Albanian people
there that Jehovah’s Witness are not Christians.
Recently Jehovah Witnesses have come to Albania
. Albanians think they are Christians and
the JW’s actions have created a negative opinion
about Christians. (Strangely, for some reason,
as many as 90 young people have killed themselves
– an unheard of event – most of who were JW’s
converts or came in contact with Jehovah’s
Witnesses. I don’t understand all the details
and I’m getting only sketchy information.)
God knows. Just pray.
- Most
recently, UNICEF is interested in helping
in BC. The missionaries are asking for a Dump
Truck. If UNICEF can come up with a dump truck,
the church in BC will be looking for ways
to purchase 40 dumpsters at about $200 each.
- Building
Child Care Center for town that will be used
as ministry as well as a place for Pastor
Astrit to live, and a meeting place for the
church in BC. Estimated $66K for the building.

News from 2004 Albania trip:
In summer 2004, Pastor Gene Wilkes, Mickey Nierdieck
and Jacky Johnson traveled to Albania to spend time with missionary Teresa
Weaver to learn about the current needs there. Legacy hopes to send
adults and students to Albania next year to join with a small but vibrant
church to reach Albanians for Christ. Here are some photos from the
2004 trip.
