Welcome to Legacy from Senior Pastor, Gene Wilkes

Hi! I want to extend to you a warm welcome as you check out Legacy Church on the web. At Legacy, we want to serve you on your journey of faith wherever you are along the way! We invite you to join us in one of our weekend worship services, LifeGroups, or ministries throughout the week.

Legacy seeks to fulfill our mission to help people trust Jesus and to become a crowd of witnesses to Christ-changed lives.

We use our Life Mission Questions as a guide for our daily walk with God. These questions help us be the purpose-driven followers of Christ God calls us to become and keep us on mission as a church.

Legacy provides a fresh expression of Christ's church in this community. We want to bring honor to the One who loved us and gave himself for us, Jesus, through all we do and who we are.

About Gene Wilkes:

Gene has been the Senior Pastor of Legacy Church since 1987. He and his wife Kim have been married since 1975, and they have two daughters, Storey Cook (Graham) and Summer. Gene has written Jesus on Leadership (LifeWay, 1996 and Tyndale Publishing House, 1998), My Identity in Christ (LifeWay, 1999), With All My Soul: God's Design for Spiritual Wellness (LifeWay, 2001), and Paul on Leadership (LifeWay, 2004). He recently released a devotional guide through the Old Testament, Yahweh: Divine Encounters in the Old Testament (Clarity Press, 2007). He contributes regularly to a variety of magazines on topics ranging from leadership to health and fitness. Gene speaks on the topics of discipleship and servant leadership nationally and internationally.

Gene earned his bachelor's degree from Baylor University (1975) and his Master of Divinity (1979) and Doctor of Philosophy in New Testament Sudies (1985) from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. His hobbies are reading, writing and running.
