Love Where You Live (LWYL)
The Love Where You Live program, sponsored by the City of Plano and its partners, is a neighborhood revitalization initiative.
The goal of the program is to keep our Plano neighborhoods beautiful, safe, and stable, and to connect residents to each other, the City and our volunteers who are ready to serve.Groups will help with a wide variety of tasks needed by residents of the neighborhood. This may include, but is not limited to, landscaping, painting, fence repair, litter cleanup, and more. Both individuals and groups are welcome to register!
Typically Spring Service Day Projec like Neighborhood Litter Cleanup, are usually in April - May. Fall Service Day Project are normally planned for September - October. Click on "GET INVOLVED" for details and to sign-up.
PISD
Wells Elementary is asking Legacy Church to connect with its students.
Mentors meet weekly or bi-weekly during the student's lunch or recess time for approximately 30 minutes. This is not academic mentoring. Mentors can bring their lunch and eat with the student; the time with the student is to visit, play games, read books, etc.

Plano CARES Work Day
Plano CARES (Code Abatement by Residents Engaged in Service) connects local volunteers to residents in need of assistance with common property code violations. Plano CARES benefits residents who are not able to resolve code issues due to physical or financial hardship. Eligible projects include:
- Minimal tree trimming
- Trash removal
- Damaged fence removal/repair
- Accessory building removal/repair
- Minor exterior home repair
Specific details about the projects will not be made available until closer to the date of the project. Volunteers must be 18 or older.
Project work days are scheduled for the 2nd Saturday of the month from March through November. Tools and equipment will be available on work days for volunteer use.

Community Clean-Up
The Community Cleanup Trailer has everything your group needs to keep Plano’s streets and streams clean! The trailer is equipped with trash/recycle bags, gloves, safety vests, pickup sticks and chest waders. The trailer is FREE to groups with 25 or more volunteers. Simply organize a group, select a date, reserve the trailer and City staff transports it to the cleanup location.

Baptist Student Ministry (BSM)
The University of Texas at Dallas BSM exists to develop lifelong followers of Christ. Their mission is to encourage students to engage with the Gospel, grow in Christ, and go proclaim Him to the world.
BSM Student Lunch Outreach:
The weekly BSM Free Lunch, every Tuesday during the school session on the UTD campus, has started back up. You can serve eery Tuesday, twice a month, once a month, whenever your schduel permits.
Legacy Church sponsors/hosts the BSM Free Lunch three times a school year. It would be great to fill the room with Legacy volutneers on our host days. Our next hosts days are Tuesday, Janaury 23rd and again on March 26th in the Student Union Galaxy Dining Hall. You will want to be part of this - sign-up HERE.
Emily's Place
Emily’s Place provides long-term housing that is critical for helping domestic violence survivors permanently escape abuse. It is the “bridge” from a shelter, which typically allows women a safe place for 30 to 90 days, to independent living, free of the barriers preventing them from achieving self-sufficiency away from their abusers. The mission is to break the cycle of abuse through transformational care that seeks to restore faith, hope, and health.
In general, ongoing needs for Emily’s Place (Requires volunteer application, training, and a background check):
- Childcare (volunteers for childcare during our evening programming are essential)
- Minor Repairs
- Yard Work
- Gardening
- Deliver dinner and fellowship
- Pro bono services, tutoring, training skills
- Monthly automotive maintenance

Metro Relief
On any given night 567,715 people experience homelessness in America. Metro Life is committed to seeing that number decrease through a unique, mobile-first approach that ensures that our homeless community get the personalized care and resources they need and deserve.
Year around, they collect Hygiene Kits (all travel size items). Place travel size items in a quart size baggie to make a Hygiene Kit.
