Not Perfect
Judges 21:25 In those days there was no king in Israel; everyone did what was right in his own eyes.
That’s how the book of Judges ends – everybody doing what’s right in their own eyes. This marks much of the book of Judges, and in spite of various attempts by human leaders to point people back to the Lord, back to truth, back to life, things just keep falling apart for the people of God. It is an apt picture of our own condition today. When left to our own sinfulness and our desperate need for help, we too fall apart and go our own way, doing whatever is right in our own eyes. We need help. More than the help of an IMPERFECT human leader, we need to hold fast to a PERFECT Savior, who not only points to truth and life, but is in Himself, truth and life.
As we journey through Lent toward Easter, join us in looking at the rise and fall (and fall, and fall again) of the people of God, as their longing grows for a Savior.
