One Big Thing
Evangelism.
What's your first impulse when you see that word? Is it intimidating? Offensive? Outdated? Politicized? Or is it comforting? Exciting? Encouraging? Challenging? Visionary?
The Bible is clear (2 Corinthians 5:18-20; Colossians 4:5-6; 1 Peter 3:15-16) about this: Evangelism is for Everyone (or rather, for every christian to take up the task). Yet, in spite of how clear Jesus is on this (Mark 16:15; Matthew 5:15-16; Matthew 28:19-20; John 15:8; Acts 1:8; etc), a majority of believers never share their faith.
There are at least two things that interrupt our obedience with Jesus’ command: one is fear, and the other is a lack of knowledge. We’re not really sure what that looks like in everyday life, and the whole thing can be very intimidating. Maybe we've gotten in our own way of sharing the best news on earth, and so we've missed out on experiencing the joy of Jesus growing His kingdom through us (remember how great a joy Jesus spoke of when one lost sheep is found?).
Don't miss a Sunday as Legacy (from our youngest to our oldest) focus on ONE BIG THING: learning to love to share our faith with others!
