Dear Church Family,
As you know, we have been seeking God's direction in filling the role of Pastor for teenage students and their families. I'm writing today with the exciting news of answered prayers! God turned our attention inward to discover the person for the role is already within our church family, and I am thrilled to announce that we have hired Brandon Wash as Student and Families Pastor.
Brandon and Natalie first came to Legacy in 2015, and were both very quick to connect to community and serve. You may already recognize Brandon from serving on our church worship leadership team, but you may not know that both Natalie and Brandon have spent the past several years mentoring and discipling teenagers in our youth group, participating in and leading Life Groups, and Brandon has formed and provided weekly leadership to our youth praise team. In addition, Brandon has utilized his significant skills in media communications through running our church social media accounts this past year, and he has been a contributor on church discipleship materials.
Brandon earned a BA in Communications at ETBU and Master's degrees in Student Ministry and in Worship Leadership at Dallas Baptist University. Outside of Legacy, Brandon has enjoyed opportunities to teach and to lead worship at Texas churches in Marshall, Hallsville, Longview, and Baytown. He has also worked in video production, content creation, and communication with churches in Allen and Plano. Natalie is an LPCI who has significant experience working with children in foster care and in non-traditional family situations as a case manager, as an early childhood assessment specialist, and in play therapy.
We will bring the Wash family on stage on Sunday, February 23rd so they can share their excitement for this new ministry opportunity with you, and so that we, as a church, can surround them with prayer together. Brandon will start in the office on Monday, February 24th. Please join me in congratulating and thanking this couple for their leadership! You can contact Brandon, even now, at bwash@legacychurch.org
I asked Brandon a few questions to help introduce their family to you on a deeper level:
When did your family first come to Legacy?
Summer/Fall 2015
When were you married?
June 27, 2009 - this summer is our 11 year anniversary!
Children?
Our daughter, Rylie, was born Oct. 15, 2017 - she is almost an exact copy of Natalie and I: her mannerisms, her sass, her goofiness, are such a perfection depiction of who we are!
Loved most about serving with Legacy students in the past?
I have loved watching how passionate and eager our students are to take ownership of their faith, they don’t just sit and take a backseat to what’s happening.
Most looking forward to?
I’m most looking forward to investing in their lives outside of the normal Sunday routine, getting to help them discover how full life is in Christ.
Bucket List Item?
Attend the the big wave surfing competitions in Hawaii and Portugal
Favorite Bible Verse?
Philippians 3:10-11 NIV - I want to know Christ—yes, to know the power of his resurrection and participation in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, and so, somehow, attaining to the resurrection from the dead.
-I love the idea and purpose of knowing Christ so fully, that God can say (as a proud dad would) “Yes, he’s mine.”
