Read: Luke 9:10-17
Brief Context: Jesus and the disciples are trying to rest, but the crowds pursue them. In a moment of overwhelming need, Jesus teaches, heals, and miraculously feeds over 5,000 people.
Say: Jesus didn’t turn people away in their need. Instead, He welcomed them, had compassion, and then involved the disciples in a miracle.
Ask: What does this passage reveal about Jesus' posture toward people in need? How do you respond when you're overwhelmed or feel like you don't have enough?
Read: John 6:5–9
Brief Context: In John’s version of this story, Jesus initiates a question to test Philip’s faith, knowing He was about to perform a miracle. This moment wasn’t about the food—it was about faith and learning to trust Jesus with limited resources.
Say: Jesus already had a plan, but He asked Philip, "Where will we buy bread?" It was a test of faith.
Ask: How does God sometimes ask us to step into the impossible with limited resources? What would it look like to give Jesus what little you have right now?
Read: Philippians 4:19 & Ephesians 3:20
Brief Context: Paul is encouraging the early church to trust God with their needs and to expect that He can do more than we ask or imagine—not because of our strength, but because of His abundance.
Ask: What promises of provision do you see in these verses? Can you name a time when God did "immeasurably more" than you expected?
Reflective Passages: Matthew 14:13–21, Mark 6:30–44, Isaiah 55:1–2, Luke 9:17
