The storm on the Sea of Galilee tested the disciples’ faith, revealing their fears  and doubts. Jesus, however, remained at peace, demonstrating His authority over creation and His deep trust in the Father. This passage challenges us to evaluate where we place our faith when storms  arise.

Read: Luke 8:22-23
Say: Jesus initiates the journey across the lake, fully aware of the coming storm. The disciples, despite  witnessing His miracles, still struggle to trust Him in the moment of crisis.
Ask: Why do you think Jesus allowed the storm to arise? How do difficult seasons test and refine our  faith?

Read: Luke 8:24-25
Brief Context: The disciples panic, convinced they are perishing. Jesus, however, speaks and the  storm ceases instantly, revealing His divine authority.
Say: The contrast between the disciples’ fear and Jesus’ peace is striking. Jesus was not unaware or  indifferent—He was demonstrating that true peace is not found in circumstances but in Him.
Ask: How does this moment challenge the way we respond to life's unexpected storms? What does  Jesus' reaction teach us about His power and presence?

Application

Brief Context: Jesus questions the disciples’ faith, not to shame them, but to call them into deeper  trust.
Say: Faith is not just about believing in Jesus' power—it’s about resting in His presence.
Ask: How can we cultivate a faith that remains steady in life's storms? What practical steps can we  take this week to rest in the peace Jesus offers?

Close in Prayer: Father, thank You for Your perfect peace that surpasses all understanding. Help us to  trust You in the storms, knowing that You are in control. Teach us to surrender our fears and rest in  Your presence. May our lives reflect the confidence and peace that comes from walking with You.  Amen.
