5 Christmas Books Your Family Will Love

Our NextGen Pastor, Lauren Van Hoy, put together a list of favorite Christmas books for families.

These stories and devotionals help you point your kids to Jesus, slow your pace, and bring Scripture into the everyday rhythms of your home.

1. Unwrapping the Greatest Gift: A Family Celebration of Christmas

This beautifully written family devotional walks through the Jesse Tree tradition, tracing God’s rescue plan from Genesis to the birth of Jesus. Each daily reading includes Scripture, discussion questions, and simple activities that help every age engage.

2. The Jesus Storybook Bible: A Christmas Collection

A seasonal companion to the beloved *Jesus Storybook Bible*, this edition includes stories, songs, and reflections to guide families through Advent. Perfect for bedtime or a quiet morning moment before school.

3. Christmas in the Manger

For little ones, this simple, gentle board book introduces the Nativity story through sweet illustrations and age-appropriate language. It’s a great first Christmas book for babies and toddlers.

4. The Way to the Manger: A Family Advent Devotional

Short, thoughtful readings paired with Scripture, activities, and discussion prompts make this devotional easy to use with kids of all ages. It’s a helpful tool for building a simple family rhythm throughout December.

5. Jesus Calling: The Story of Christmas (Picture Book)

This beautifully illustrated book tells the story of God’s plan from Creation to Christ. With its warm, accessible style, it helps children connect the big story of Scripture to the miracle of Jesus’ birth.

An Encouragement for Families

You don’t need a perfect plan or a perfectly quiet house to help your kids experience the wonder of Christmas. Our prayer at Legacy Church is that these resources give your family  some simple tools to spark conversation, build faith, and enjoy Jesus together this season.

If you’d like more resources for Advent, family discipleship, or our NextGen ministry, we’d love to connect with you. Merry Christmas!
