Growing Together at Women's Bible Study

Over the summer break, Legacy member Sarah Morris opened her home to host monthly opportunities for women to meet and discuss faith-building books, including Praying the Bible and Dinner with a Perfect Stranger: An Invitation Worth Considering.

“The women's book club was a highlight of my summer,” reflected Megan Hopkins. “I learned so much from each book and made some new friends along the way. As a busy mom, it had been a minute since I'd finished a book—but this genuinely reignited my love of reading. The books made Jesus feel so real and approachable and reminded me that we just need to talk to Him!”

A Legacy veteran, Sarah has been part of Legacy for 30 years, serving the body through everything from life group leadership with her husband Richie to working on staff in the family and kids ministry for a number of years. More recently, Sarah began facilitating the Wednesday evening women’s Bible studies over the last year. 

“When I was first asked to help facilitate a women’s Bible study, I thought I was too busy, under-qualified and wasn’t sure I should. Then I talked to God about it and felt a strong nudge to say yes, and I sure am glad I did!”

“Another big motivation for taking on this role is gratitude for our church and God’s grace,” Sarah added, reflecting on a tough and unexpected season of loss that her and her husband have been walking through. “This season of life requires us to lean into relying on Him and His promises. A huge part of what and who carries us through this season has been, and will continue to be, God’s word and God’s people. So, facilitating Bible study for the ladies brings God’s word and His people together and is a great way for ladies to lean into Him together!”

Back in Sarah’s early years at Legacy, she was gifted with friendships in women’s Bible study that still continue to this day, and she loves the opportunity to help bring that faith-growing connection to other ladies at the church and in our community.

“Everyone is welcome on Wednesday nights! Many of the ladies have travel, work commitments or other conflicts that come up, but we all know that each lady will be there as she can. Some have been doing Bible studies for awhile and some are new to studying God’s word. It’s a casual, grace-filled place, so I hope anyone who’s feeling even a slight God nudge to join us will act on that. In my case, as I mentioned earlier, I sure am glad I did! Getting to have evenings with the ladies to learn, talk and grow together is such a re-fueling time… a mid-week gift in the busyness of life.”

Diving into one of the women’s Bible studies at Legacy is a great chance to get into a daily rhythm and discipline of studying God’s word and being transformed by it. This fall, Legacy women’s ministry will offer a Sunday morning study, “The Purpose and Promise of Prayer”, and a Wednesday evening study, “The Names of God”.
