Life Group Study - Apr. 27, 2025

Read: Matthew 28:18-20   
Brief Context: These are the final words of Jesus before His ascension. He claims all authority in heaven and earth, then gives the Church her mission: make disciples of all nations. It’s not just a suggestion — it’s a sending. But Jesus doesn’t send us without help. He promises His presence will go with us to the very end.   
Say: Jesus didn’t just call us to believe — He called us to go. But the power to go doesn’t come from hype or personality. It comes from knowing that the King who sends us also goes with us.   
Ask: Why do you think Jesus began this commission with “all authority”? What does it look like   to live like we’ve been sent? How are we tempted to exchange obedience for preference when it comes to mission?

Brief Context: As Jesus prepares to ascend, He promises the Holy Spirit will empower His followers to be witnesses — locally, regionally, and globally.   
Say: The Spirit’s power isn’t for performance — it’s for witness. Jesus didn’t say, “You’ll go once you’re ready.” He said, “You’ll go when the Spirit empowers you.”   
Ask: Where is your “Jerusalem” — the immediate place God is calling you to witness? What excuses do we often make instead of trusting the Spirit to empower us?   

Read: Mark 16:15   
Brief Context: Jesus commissions His disciples again, telling them to go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to every creature.   
Say: Jesus’ gospel isn’t regional — it’s global. But it’s also personal. We’re not waiting for a mission trip to go. We’re already in the field.   
Ask: What makes evangelism feel intimidating? How can we learn to see people around us as those Jesus died to reach?
