Feeding Kids, Fueling Hope: How One Legacy Member Turned a Company Project into a Community Mission

Legacy Church recently packed and donated 334 Children’s Hunger Fund FoodPaks, providing 11,615 nutritious, shelf-stable meals for families right here in the DFW area. These boxes, small in size but huge in impact, help local families struggling with food insecurity and open the door for gospel-centered relationships through local church partners.  

One of the biggest contributions this year came from Legacy Church member Jeff Flovin—and his team at Hexatronic Data Center.  

From One Question to a Company Tradition  

Three years ago, Jeff had the idea to bring the FoodPak project to his workplace. As Operations Manager at Hexatronic, he knew his team would be up for it—but he didn’t expect it to become a tradition.  

“This year we packed 150 boxes,” Jeff said, smiling. “The first year, it was just me asking if anyone wanted to help. But now? The team comes to me—they say, ‘Can we do that again? We want to feed the kids!’”  

Most of Jeff’s team are immigrants from Vietnam, and their personal experiences drive their generosity.  

“They know what it’s like to grow up with very little,” Jeff shared. “Anytime they can help, especially when it comes to kids, they’re all in.”  

How They Do It  

Jeff gathers donations from his coworkers—this year, about $1,000 total—then makes a run to Sam’s Club. Back at the office, the break room transforms into a buzzing assembly line. They unpack, sort, pack, and stack the boxes—all in about 45 minutes. Then Jeff loads up the pallet and delivers it to Legacy Church.  

“It doesn’t take much,” Jeff said. “If you have 50 people and each give $10, you can do 40 or 50 boxes easily.”  

And these aren’t just any boxes. Each one is filled with food, yes—but also with the love of Jesus and the hope that someone, somewhere, cares. “It’s awesome that these FoodPaks stay in the community,” he said. “That means a lot to folks.”
