Three Lies & the Truth

May 12, 2024

In this heartfelt Mother’s Day message, we dive into John 15 and unpack Jesus’ invitation to abide in Him. With warmth, humor, and honesty, the speaker begins by reflecting on the highs and exhaustion of motherhood, using a light-hearted “Two Truths and a Lie” game as an intro. From there, we move into deeper territory—examining the three common lies that many of us, especially moms, often believe: that knowing more, coasting through life, or going it alone is enough to create the life we desire.

But truth cuts through the noise: transformation doesn’t come from information, autopilot living, or isolation. True life, the life Jesus promised—one marked by joy, fruitfulness, peace, and purpose—comes only through abiding in Him.

John 15 becomes our anchor. Jesus is the vine, and we are the branches. If we abide—remain, dwell, and take root—in Him, He promises to bear fruit through us. The sermon offers real-world, practical guidance for cultivating a life of abiding: Scripture before screens, and prayer instead of anxious self-talk. Through these small but meaningful habits, we are invited to prioritize and pattern our lives around Christ.

This message encourages those who feel burnt out, unseen, or unfruitful. Whether you're a mom or not, if you've ever felt a disconnect between the life you're living and the one you long for, this teaching will point you to the only source that satisfies: abiding daily in the love and presence of Jesus.
