Pray for the Purging of the Church (Malachi 3:3-4)
In Malachi, the Lord declares that He will sit as a refiner and purifier of the tribe of Levi, to purge and purify them so that they may offer to God an offering in righteousness. Then the offering of Judah and Jerusalem will be pleasant before the Lord, as in the days of old. This passage of Scripture shows how God desires His people to be restored.
Levi was chosen as a priest to God, to minister before Him (Deuteronomy 18:1), and Judah was set as king to rule the people of God in righteousness (Genesis 49:10). The same is true of the Church, as we have been made priests and kings unto our God (Revelation 1:6; 5:10).
The Lord is set to purge and purify His Church so that she may offer to God a sacrifice of righteousness, holy and acceptable before Him (1 Peter 2:5). The Lord will no longer tolerate unrighteousness within His Church. He will purge, sanctify, and purify His Church so that He may present her to Himself as a glorious Church without spot or wrinkle (Ephesians 5:26-27).
